The tasks involved are of a technical and legal nature: assistance with land consolidation (administrative paperwork), a full topographical survey of the area, demarcation of excluded areas, demarcation of the perimeter, reallocation of plots, and notarial deeds.

OBJECTIVES

Land consolidation involves reorganising agricultural or land parcels to make them more functional, accessible and coherent, whilst respecting the rights of landowners. This process, which is often coordinated with local authorities and government departments, requires specific technical and legal expertise, an area in which the chartered surveyor acts as an impartial third party.

DETAILED EXPLANATION

The chartered surveyor leads and oversees land consolidation projects by:

  • Preliminary studies and detailed topographical surveys of existing plots, paths, boundaries and ancillary structures,
  • Cadastral and legal analysis of plots and associated rights,
  • Proposals for the redistribution of plots to optimise land use, reduce landlocked plots and improve access to the land,
  • Preparation of land consolidation plans and official documents for the authorities and landowners,
  • Monitoring of administrative procedures and consultation with landowners to validate the project,
  • Demarcation and physical marking of the new plot boundaries.
