OBJECTIVES

Urban networks are central to safety, planning and infrastructure management.
Surveyors ensure the accuracy, traceability and legal compliance of survey data, contributing to the sustainability, maintenance and optimisation of cities.

DETAILED EXPLANATION

A chartered surveyor is involved in:

  • Locate and accurately survey all existing urban networks (pipes, cables, manholes, poles),
  • Integrate the information into GIS databases and georeferenced maps,
  • Verify that the networks comply with and are consistent with plans and regulatory standards,
  • Coordinate with municipal departments and contractors regarding maintenance or works,
  • Prevent risks associated with earthworks and urban construction,
  • Produce usable documents for infrastructure planning, asset management and maintenance.
